Why are so many animals killed and miss treated every where?
Everywhere there are thousands of animal cruelty cases each year. Of 1880 animal cruelty cases 1212 are dogs, 337 are cats and 470 are other animals. To me these numbers are to big. People may ask "Why are these animals being treated like this and what are the authorities doing to stop this from happening," well most of these animals are just being mistreated and a lot just cant defend them selves. Plus the authorities are doing every thing that they can to help these animals "But should people help?" that is one question that is of concern as well. I do think that people could help stand up for these animals and give these defenseless animals a voice.
Another question that some people might ask would be "Is there any evidence of a connection between animal cruelty and human violence?" and yes there is a connection to human violence and animal cruelty. Parents that abuse their children most likely abused an animal before they started abusing their children. So if we stop animal cruelty we might even be stopping things like serial killings or even child abuse. this is what Cynthia Hodges thinks about animal abuse "Cruelty to animals and violence towards people have something in common: both types of victims are living beings, feel pain, experience distress, and may die from their injuries. Until recently, however, violence towards animals had been considered to be unrelated to violence towards children and the elderly, and other forms of domestic violence. A correlation has now been established between animal abuse, family violence, and other forms of community violence. A growing body of research indicates that people who commit acts of cruelty towards animals rarely stop there. Murderers and people who abuse their spouse or children had frequently harmed animals in the past. People who abuse animals may also be dangerous to people." in her article Cynthia Hodges shows readers that people that might have abused an animal might commit more crimes in their future. Animal cruelty to some people might now seem like something much bigger than they’ve ever thought of before because they now know that if some one abuses an animal they might commit more crimes later.
“It is prevalent in all areas of the society. People in rural as well as urban areas are reported for animal cruelty cases. The statistics show reported cases are just the tip of the iceberg. There are hundreds, maybe thousands of cases related to animal abuse that go unreported. People carry out violent and gruesome attacks on animals, both domestic and stray. The most common victims of animal abuse are dogs, cats, horses, birds, and livestock. Abuse can take place in different ways. A dog is kicked because he is barking too much. A house cat is forced to live outdoors as it missed the litter box by a few inches. Horses are whipped continuously just so the jockey can win a race. Bulls are made to fight against man, to prove who is mightier - man or beast. There are many cases where the so-called civilized people put unwanted kittens in a bag and leave them out on a highway.” These are just a few of things that happen to these animals without us knowing about it.
